O’Melveny's Addition of Renowned IP Group Covered by Multiple Publications

April 16, 2014 O’Melveny & Myers’ addition of nationally recognized patent litigators Lisa Barons Pensabene, Marc Pensabene, and Filko Prugo as partners in the Firm's New York office was noted in multiple publications, including Law360, New York Law Journal, The American Lawyer, National Law Journal, and Bloomberg.  Lisa, who serves as O'Melveny's firmwide Head of Life Sciences Litigation, is widely acknowledged as one of the top patent trial lawyers in the life sciences area and has led more than a dozen major pharmaceutical patent litigations.  Marc focuses on complex patent litigation and has litigated matters involving a wide variety of technologies.  Filko’s practice has focused on life sciences litigation and has experience leading numerous litigation teams in high-stakes patent litigation.  Together, they bring a combined 40 years of experience and have handled dozens of significant cases for industry-leading innovator pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

The April 10, 2014, Bloomberg article quotes Firm Chair Bradley Butwin regarding the trio.  “Lisa, Marc and Filko—all first-chair patent trial lawyers—give us the ability to serve a host of clients, ranging from biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies to computer hardware and software companies in ANDA and traditional patent litigation,” he said.

In an interview with Law360, Lisa noted that the group joined O'Melveny "because it presents a wonderful opportunity to complement the firm’s strong West Coast intellectual property presence with a strong life sciences presence on the East Coast."
