O’Melveny’s Amdursky Quoted in Law360 on Alternative Work Schedule Bills in California

April 16, 2012 Eric Amdursky, managing partner of O’Melveny & Myers LLP’s Silicon Valley office, was quoted in the April 11, 2012, Law360 article, “Calif. Panel Snubs Alternative Work Schedule Bills.” The article concerned two bills proposing to encourage more companies to offer flexible work schedules to their employees that were ultimately rejected by a California Senate panel.

Amdursky, a member of O’Melveny’s Labor and Employment Practice, told Law360 that one of the bills, S.B. 1115, would be especially helpful for startup companies in Silicon Valley, giving nonexempt employees more flexible schedules as companies are developing and helping new companies recruit talent. “There still is a lot of support from an employer perspective to make California more consistent with other states and a fear that there will be a continued migration of operations away from California because of wage-and-hour laws that are more difficult to work under,” he said.
