O’Melveny’s Appointment of Simmons as Antitrust & Competition Practice Co-Chair Noted in Global Competition Review

April 20, 2015 Global Competition Review recently noted O’Melveny & Myers’ appointment of Washington, DC partner Ian Simmons as co-chair of the Firm’s Antirust & Competition practice. In the April 20, 2015, article, GCR writes that Simmons “is well known in antitrust litigation circles, having represented Samsung in follow-on cartel damages actions involving cathode ray tubes, optical disk drives and lithium batteries.” The publication also noted Simmons’ victory for Marriott International in a price-fixing lawsuit, and his current work for Asiana Airlines in two multi-district litigations and Sysco Corporation in the Federal Trade Commission’s challenge to the Sysco-US Foods merger.

With more than 23 years of experience in antitrust litigation, Simmons’ practice focuses on cartel class actions and matters involving intellectual property. He has been lead counsel in more than 30 multidistrict litigation (MDL) antitrust proceedings. Simmons also has argued before the US Court of Appeals for the Second, Third, Fourth, Seventh and Ninth Circuits as well as the highest courts in New York and South Dakota and he has tried seven cases to verdict. He has won precedent-setting cases involving the extraterritorial application of the US antitrust laws and the pre-emption of the US antitrust laws.
