O'Melveny's Dellinger Quoted in Associated Press Article Regarding Representation of the NCAA

November 29, 2011

O'Melveny & Myers LLP Appellate Practice partner Walter Dellinger is quoted in the November 28, 2011, Associated Press article "Judge Delays Ruling on NC Secretary of State's Fight with NCAA Over Agent Documents." The article discusses how Wake County Superior Court Judge Paul C. Ridgeway is giving the North Carolina Secretary of State and the NCAA 60 days to resolve a dispute over documents from the NCAA's investigation into UNC's football program. Judge Ridgeway declined to rule Monday on a request from the Secretary's office seeking to force the NCAA to turn over documents as the office investigates whether the state's sports agent laws were broken. The judge suggested that the Secretary's office should file its subpoena through the NCAA's home state of Indiana for jurisdictional purposes. Dellinger, who represents the NCAA, told the Associated Press that "the NCAA was willing to provide unredacted information during a 45-minute hearing that was largely a jurisdictional debate." Dellinger resides in O'Melveny's Washington, DC office.
