O’Melveny’s Dellinger Quoted in Multiple Media Outlets on Supreme Court’s Decision to Uphold Affordable Care Act

June 29, 2012

O’Melveny & Myers LLP Washington, DC partner and former US solicitor general Walter Dellinger was quoted and referenced in multiple major news dailies and political outlets on the United States Supreme Court's ruling to largely uphold the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act including the Washington Post, BLT: Blog of the Legal Times, NPR, Arizona Republic, Slate, CNN, and The Huffington Post. The June 28, 2012, BLT article, “With Health Care Ruling, Surprise, Jubilation and Angry Calls for Repeal,” quoted Dellinger as saying that he thought the Court “stepped back from the brink.” In its July 2 report, "How they fared," The National Law Journal listed Dellinger as one of six key players in the debate. "Like Barnett on the other side, O'Melveny & Myers' Dellinger generated ideas and optimism that kept his side going; unlike Barnett, Dellinger's side won," The NLJ wrote. "The former acting SG correctly predicted early on that the tax argument might be a winner." A number of reports referenced Dellinger's remarks at a June 28 media phone briefing on the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the Affordable Care Act held by the American Constitution Society.
