O’Melveny’s Easton Quoted in Daily Journal on Digital Media Deals

O’Melveny & Myers LLP partner Mark Easton was quoted in the February 25, 2013, Daily Journal article “Lawyers Capitalize on 'Digital Media Wave'.” According to the article, entertainment companies are increasingly using strategic acquisitions as a way to quickly acquire new technology as entertainment and technology have continued to converge at a rapid pace over the past few years.

"Companies have come to the realization after watching the likes of Facebook and others become major players overnight that they have no choice but to get on the bandwagon," said Easton, who represented Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. in its 2011 purchase of Flixster Inc. "The fastest way to do that is by acquisition."

"There really hasn't been a digital media wave. That wave is now here," Easton added. "I expect it will provide a whole new source of growth for the entertainment industry in Southern California."
