O'Melveny & Myers’ establishment of a formal association with an Indonesian law office was recorded in AmLaw Daily, Thomson Reuters, IP Magazine, Law360, Lawyer Monthly, AmLaw's Asian Lawyer, The Lawyer, and Singapore Business Journal, among other media outlets.
Singapore-based partner Joel Hogarth will relocate to Jakarta to coordinate the association, while associate Ratih Nawangsari will divide her time between Jakarta and Singapore, reported AmLaw Daily’s November 8, 2011, “Perkins Coie Returns to Taiwan, O'Melveny Moves Into Indonesia.” O'Melveny's Singapore managing partner, Bertie Mehigan, will oversee the Firm's overall efforts in Southeast Asia. According to the November 9, 2011, “Perkins Coie Opens Shop Taiwan While O'Melveny Sets Up in Indonesia” in IP Magazine, the association also will look to the market-leading capabilities of O'Melveny's Asia offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, and Tokyo.
“A presence in Indonesia complements our strengths in Asia and firmwide, and better positions us to serve the needs of our global clients in the important Southeast Asia region. Indonesia is becoming an increasingly important market for many of our clients and we look forward to serving them with our new capabilities in Jakarta,” said Arthur B. Culvahouse, Jr., chair of O’Melveny.
