O’Melveny’s Hacker Noted in National Law Journal Article on Supreme Court Review of Kiobel

O’Melveny & Myer’s LLP partner and chair of the Supreme Court and Appellate Practice Jonathan Hacker’s role in authoring one of sixteen amicus briefs filed in the upcoming Supreme Court review of Kiobel v. Royal Dutch Shell was noted in the October 2, 2012, National Law Journal article “Kiobel Reargument Draws Dozens of Amici on Reach of Alien Tort Statute.”

The Kiobel reargument, which seeks to determine if the 223 year-old Alien Tort Statute applies to corporate conduct committed outside of US territories, will be the first case heard by the Supreme Court in the new term. According to the article, Hacker is one of several “heavyweight Supreme Court advocates” Royal Dutch Petroleum has turned to make their case. The case is Kiobel v. Royal Dutch Shell, 621 F. 3d 111.
