O’Melveny’s Hacker Quoted on DC Circuit.Nominations in The Hill, The Blog of Legal TimesDecember 10, 2013 The Blog of Legal Times and The Hill recently covered the US Senate’s confirmation of Patricia Millett to fill one of three vacancies on the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit. The reports note that confirmation votes for two other pending nominees to the powerful federal appeals court are expected to come before the end of the year.
O’Melveny & Myers partner Jon Hacker told The Hill that he doesn’t believe any of the three nominees are likely to “crusaders on the court.” He does expect a period of adjustment as the court feels out a new dynamic, however. “[T]hese are new judges to the court and they're going to be establishing their own record, and agencies will try to determine whether they'll see things differently," Hacker told The Blog of Legal Times.
Hacker is chair of O’Melveny’s Supreme Court and Appellate Practice, and resides in the Firm’s Washington, DC office.
