O'Melveny's Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Named a Law360 Group of the Year

January 16, 2012

O'Melveny & Myers LLP's Intellectual Property and Technology Practice recently was honored by Law360 as an IP Practice of 2011. In the January 6, 2012, article "IP Group of the Year: O'Melveny," the online legal newsletter recognized the Firm's work on several high-profile cases in 2011.

Among the victories singled out in the profile was O'Melveny's headline-making victory for client SK hynix in a multi-billion dollar antitrust case involving Rambus' RDRAM proprietary memory technology. Partner Kenneth Nissly, who led O’Melveny’s team in the case, attributed the success of O’Melveny’s IP practice to the Firm’s “cadre of accomplished trial lawyers.” Partner Darin Snyder, who heads the practice, pointed to the Firm’s advanced technological abilities, “emphasis on creative business solutions that embody the client’s best interests,” and integration with other Firm practices.

Other 2011 victories Law360 praised include the reversal by the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit of a US$400 million jury verdict against client SK hynix in a patent suit brought by Rambus, and a win for HarperCollins Publishers LLC after Shaklee Corp. challenged its use of the term “cinch.”
