O’Melveny’s Larry Sussman, Matthew Erramouspe and Wei Qian Examine New China Film Law

May 10, 2016

O’Melveny partners Larry Sussman and Matthew Erramouspe and associate Wei Qian wrote the article, “New Film Industry Law Sets Industry on Good Path,” published in the May 10, 2016 issue of AmCham China.

In the article, the authors examine key features of a draft law from China’s People’s Congress that seeks to regulate and develop China’s booming film industry. As the authors note, China is “on track to overtake the US as the world’s largest film market in the next few years.”

The article considers the draft law’s potential impact on filmmaking in China, especially for foreign companies. Ultimately, the six-chapter, 58-clause draft law “will have a positive effect on the China film industry and progress China’s film industry to the next level,” the authors write.
