O’Melveny’s Lash Authors Column on Legal Community’s Role in the Fight Against Homelessness
10月 07, 2016
“Never before has the issue of homelessness, and the plight of the homeless, received such attention,” writes O’Melveny counsel David Lash in “The Fight Against Homelessness Starts with Lawyers,” the first in a series of bi-weekly columns for Above the Law.
In the article, Lash discusses how increased attention on the problem of homelessness and the development of funding proposals to alleviate it present a critical moment for the legal community to make an impact on this important issue.
“When lawyers preserve the housing stock, ensure that vouchers are not lost, prevent unjust evictions, require uplifting of substandard housing, and help tenants secure and keep the benefits to which they are entitled, our communities, like proverbial boats, rise together,” Lash writes.
Lash serves as managing counsel for pro bono and public interest services, overseeing the firm’s national and international pro bono program. He is a frequent contributor to publications around the country and guest speaker on issues related to access to justice, legal aid, combating poverty, and more. He resides in O’Melveny’s Los Angeles office.
