O’Melveny’s Lash Quoted in WSJ on Pro Bono Aid for Young Immigrants

October 01, 2014 O’Melveny & Myers pro bono counsel David Lash was quoted in The Wall Street Journal's October 1, 2014, article “New Mission for Lawyers: Free Aid to Young Immigrants.” The piece details how lawyers at major US law firms, including O’Melveny, are volunteering pro bono legal representation for unaccompanied immigrant minors in response to an influx of Central American children who have entered the country since July 2014, at nearly twice the previous year's rate.

By taking on these cases, "we are not doing anything political," Lash told The Wall Street Journal, adding, "[o]ur job is to ensure these children have access to justice. Without a lawyer, they don't have due process."

Lash serves as managing counsel of O’Melveny’s public interest and pro bono services and resides in the Firm’s Los Angeles and Century City offices.
