O’Melveny’s Meeker Quoted in NetworkWorld on Open-Source Software

August 27, 2015 O’Melveny & Myers partner Heather Meeker was quoted in the August 27, 2015, NetworkWorld article, “Technology, the Law, and You: Open-Source Software.”  Meeker told the publication that even in highly regulated industries like healthcare and finance, open-source licenses are not typically an issue for users.  “Even assuming disclosure of source code could violate the law or cause security problems, most open-source software licenses do not require any disclosure of source code unless one is distributing the software,” Meeker said.  “Use of the software usually has no requirements.”

Meeker is a member of O’Melveny’s Mergers & Acquisitions Practice and resides in the Firm’s Silicon Valley office.
