O’Melveny’s Nonaka Referenced in Thomson Reuters News & Insight Article on Litigation Aftermath of Fukushima Nuclear Meltdown

January 27, 2012

O’Melveny & Myers Tokyo partner Scott Nonaka was referenced in the January 27, 2012, Thomson Reuters News & Insight article, “Summary Judgments for Jan. 27: Learning to Love Litigation.” The news item quotes from a previously published article in The Asian Lawyer, an affiliate of The American Lawyer, which reported that despite the epic earthquake and nuclear meltdown at Japan’s Fukushima nuclear plant, an anticipated uptick in litigation did not occur in Japan. Nonaka, a member of O’Melveny’s Business Trial & Litigation Practice, is quoted by Reuters for telling The Asian Lawyer how “litigation is a bit of an alien concept in Japan.” He continued to further explain, “The resort to litigation as a means to resolve your disputes is not part of the culture here.”
