O’Melveny’s Olson Quoted in Forbes on Chinese Investment in the US

November 11, 2013 On November 7, 2013, Forbes published an article, titled “China Is Eager To Go Out, The U.S. Is Open For Business,” which quotes O’Melveny & Myers partner Steve Olson.  The piece describes recent developments in the economic relationship between China and the US as well as the Obama administration’s efforts to promote Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) through initiatives such as SelectUSA, the first fully coordinated US government effort to recruit foreign business.  Olson, who previously served as SelectUSA’s Executive Director, was quoted regarding Chinese investment in the US.  “I am very bullish on US-China economic relations,” he told the publication.  “Chinese companies can invest successfully in the US if they take a holistic approach on their investments and consider not just the deal itself and CIFIUS, but also broader political issues, labor issues, engage state and local stakeholders, public relations, and plan ahead at the outset for a variety of other legal and political issues that can and often do arise.”
