O’Melveny’s Petrocelli Discusses Strategy of Superman Rights Case in Daily JournalJanuary 23, 2013
O’Melveny & Myers’ Daniel Petrocelli and Warner Bros.’ John Rogovin spoke exclusively with the Daily Journal for its January 23, 2013, story, “Warner Bros. Attorneys Talk Strategy in Superman Rights Case.” The feature piece gave a history of the dispute for the rights to the Superman character, which had been embroiled in litigation between the co-creators’ heirs and Warner Bros. Rogovin, general counsel at Warner Bros., brought on “big gun” Petrocelli for his “energy and velocity,” according to the article. Petrocelli helped win a federal appellate ruling in January securing the rights to Superman for the studio, the article said.
In the article, Rogovin and Petrocelli credit each other, O’Melveny’s Matthew Kline and Warner Bros.’ Wayne Smith and Patrick Perkins for the victory. Of Petrocelli, Rogovin said in the article, "It's like having a tiger in your tank when he's on your side."
