O’Melveny’s Representation of Global Education in Acquisition Deal Covered by US and Asia MediaNovember 29, 2011
Law360’s November 22, 2011, article, “Pearson Snaps Up Teaching And Test Prep Co. For $294M” details Pearson PLC's pending aquisition of language training and test preparation services company Global Education & Technology Group Ltd. for US$294 million. Global Education is represented by O'Melveny & Myers. The deal is expected to close by year end, according to the PEHub’s November 22 article, “O’Melveny & Myers Representing Global Education & Technology Group in Sale to Pearson.” In its November 24 Weekly Briefing, Asian-Mena Counsel reported that once completed, the transaction will be a landmark for China-based companies that have listed in the United States through a traditional underwritten IPO.
Partners David Roberts and Paul Scrivano lead the legal team advising Global Education in the deal. Roberts is a member of the Corporate Finance/Capital Markets Practice and resides in O'Melveny's Beijing office, and Scrivano is a member of the Mergers and Acquisitions Practice and resides in O'Melveny's San Francisco office.
