O’Melveny’s Roberts Quoted in The Asian Lawyer on Chinese Companies’ Return to US Exchanges

June 02, 2014

O’Melveny & Myers partner David Roberts is quoted in The Asian Lawyer’s June 2, 2014, article “Chinese Companies Return to US Exchanges in Big Way.” The piece reports that the recent US$1.8 billion Nasdaq initial public offering of JD.com, one of China's top online retailers, signals the return of US listings for Chinese companies, a type of deal that had become rare in recent years.

"Starting in 2011, many investors lost faith in Chinese companies and discounted the entire market," Roberts comments in the article. "Many good companies got dragged down." With that trend reversing, the piece also notes that O’Melveny is among a small group of firms that have been tapped to advise the Chinese tech companies that have listed in the US so far this year.

Roberts practices in the practices in the areas of capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and venture capital, and resides in O’Melveny’s Beijing office.
