O’Melveny’s Robertson, Rutledge Co-Author Corporate Counsel Article on Legal Risk of Internship Programs

November 25, 2013

O’Melveny & Myers partner Mark Robertson and counsel Ryan Rutledge co-authored the latest in a series of Corporate Counsel columns by O’Melveny attorneys. The November 25, 2013, edition, titled “Are Internship Programs Worth The Risk?” discusses recent rulings on the legality of unpaid internship programs. The article reports that some companies have eliminated internship programs entirely in order to avoid potential expenses of defending lawsuits brought by former interns. According to the authors, companies “must weigh the benefits of an internship program against the risk of litigation.”

Robertson resides in O’Melveny’s New York office and Rutledge resides in the Newport Beach office. They are members of the Firm’s Labor and Employment Practice.
