O’Melveny’s Rothenberg, Moncel Co-Author Article on Regulation of Aviation Industry Emissions

October 21, 2016

O'Melveny partner Eric Rothenberg and associate Remi Moncel co-authored the article “Tackling the Regulation of Global Airplane GHG Emissions” published October 20, 2016, in Law360. The piece breaks down a recent landmark agreement to limit and regulate the aviation industry’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

“The agreement opens the door to rulemaking by the US Environmental Protection Agency and Federal Aviation Administration,” the authors write in the article, further noting that coinciding with the Paris Agreement’s November 4, 2016, entry into force, the aviation agreement also “indicates new resolve by governments and the private sector to tackle all major sources of GHGs in the global economy.”

Rothenberg, who resides in O’Melveny’s New York office, leads the firm’s Environmental Practice and represents business and financial institutions in a broad range of adversarial matters, including superfund proceedings, toxic tort claims, and private cost recovery actions. Moncel, who resides in San Francisco, focuses his practice on corporate investigations, antitrust, international litigation, and energy and environmental matters.
