O’Melveny’s Schwartz Quoted in Law360 on DOJ Challenge to InBev-Modelo Deal

April 22, 2013

O’Melveny & Myers LLP counsel Haidee Schwartz is quoted in Law360’s April 19, 2013, article “With InBev-Modelo Deal, DOJ Antitrust Chief Sends Message.” The article reports that new antitrust chief Bill Baer’s recent move to require Anheuser-Busch InBev NV to sell Grupo Modelo SAB de CV's US business in order to win clearance to buy the Mexican brewer demonstrates his “willingness to flex his agency’s litigation muscle.”

"[It shows] that he knows he has a strong litigation shop and looks for consents that really address anti-competitive harm," Schwartz said. "He's not afraid to litigate, [and] this shows that they're going to make sure that they get what they need in meaningful remedies."

Schwartz is a member of O’Melveny’s Antitrust and Competition Practice and resides in the Firm’s Washington, DC office.
