O’Melveny’s Scrivano Quoted in Daily Journal on Semiconductor Company Merger

February 26, 2014 O’Melveny & Myers partner Paul Scrivano was quoted in a February 26, 2014, Daily Journal article on RF Micro Devices Inc.'s US$1.6 billion merger with TriQuint Semiconductor Inc.  Scrivano told the publication that the deal structure represents part of an increase in all-stock deals relative to cash transactions.  "The last time we saw a high volume of all-stock tech deals was in the late 1990s, early 2000s," he said in the article, commenting that this “demonstrates the health of the tech industry."  The article also quotes Scrivano regarding the increased pressure semiconductor companies are facing due to the growing popularity of smartphones.  "No one's getting rid of their smartphone," he said.  "The trend is only going to accelerate."

Scrivano is co-head of O’Melveny’s Mergers and Acquisitions Practice in the US.  He divides his time among the Firm’s New York, San Francisco, and Silicon Valley offices.
