O’Melveny’s Sibbitt Quoted by Law360 on Crowdfunding Registration

February 01, 2016

Law360’s January 29, 2016 article “Crowdfunding Moves Ahead As Portal Registration Kicks Off” talks about new regulations enacted by the US Securities and Exchange Commission allowing online funding portals to apply for FINRA status and officially register with the SEC. O’Melveny partner Eric Sibbitt was quoted in the article about the role the SEC will play to help prevent fraud and how many funding portals could be expected to register.

“It’s all new, and there’s always lots of startup costs in figuring out how things work,” Sibbitt said in the article. “My guess is that you’ll see it accelerate as you move closer to the May final implementation deadline for the rules.”

Sibbitt is a partner in O’Melveny's San Francisco office and a member of the Capital Markets Practice.
