O’Melveny’s Virjee Quoted in Daily Journal Regarding Employment Related Supreme Court Case

1월 10, 2012

O’Melveny & Myers LLP Labor & Employment partner Fram Virjee is quoted in the January 10, 2012, Daily Journal article “High Court to Hear Case Regarding Union Dues” regarding a US Supreme Court case concerning how public sector unions charge workers for the cost of political activities. The case is Knox v. SEIU Local 1000, 10-1121. According to Virjee, the outcome of the case could place further limits on how public sector unions pay for political costs. "If the court focuses on that issue, that is going to be very important for all public employees in the country.  That would basically say that the union can charge for the basics - like salaries for negotiators and training shop stewards - but they can't charge agency fee payers for political activity of any kind. That would be a blow to unions." Virjee resides in O’Melveny’s Los Angeles office.
