O’Melveny’s Zhang Quoted in Asian Venture Capital Journal on China IPOs

January 13, 2014 O’Melveny & Myers counsel Xuan Zhang was quoted in the article “China IPOs: Incremental Benefits” in the January 2014 edition of Asian Venture Capital Journal.  The article concerns the new registration-based IPO system introduced by China’s securities regulators to improve transparency.  Previously, regulators took the lead in assessing a listing candidate's profitability and investment value, but the new rules may shift this responsibility to China’s institutional investors, according to the report.

"Institutional investors are getting more sophisticated,” Zhang said in the article.  “They are doing their own diligence and they're increasingly equipped to judge issuers' value and the potential risks of buying shares.”

Zhang is a member of O’Melveny’s Investment Funds Practice and resides in the Firm’s Beijing office.
