Daily Journal: Pandemic Adds More Uncertainty to Central District Judge Shortage

O’Melveny Securities Litigation Group co-chair Matthew Close was quoted in this Daily Journal article about Central District of California’s judge shortage, exacerbated by the coronavirus. Senators reconvene for floor votes April 20, but it’s unclear when or if they’ll consider judicial nominations, giving no comfort to federal practitioners bracing for the worst, Daily Journal noted. “The need is just incredible,” said Close. “There was a huge amount of concern before the pandemic ... When we get back to normalcy, whenever that is, the backlog will be severe.”
