Reuters Legal: O’Melveny Boosts Fintech Practice with Ex-CFPB Attorney

Melissa Guiddorizzi, a recent senior counsel with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and former in-house lawyer with Citigroup, has joined O’Melveny’s financial services and fintech practice groups in Washington, DC, Reuters Legal reported. 

Guiddorizzi spent the last eight years with the CFPB as senior counsel for policy and strategy with the agency’s enforcement division, experience that will prove useful to clients navigating regulatory “grey area[s]” in consumer protection. O’Melveny partner Laurel Loomis Rimon, herself a former CFPB attorney, noted that this area of law is “a next-generation issue” for the fintech industry and praised her new colleague’s “forward thinking” on emerging payments.
