Reuters: O’Melveny Poaches Manatt Entertainment Head in Century City

Veteran entertainment dealmaker Lindsay Conner has joined O’Melveny’s entertainment, sports, and media group. Conner noted that the international capabilities of the firm were very attractive saying that, “I have a global entertainment practice and O’Melveny has offices across Asia and in Europe, as well as around the United States, and that’s beneficial for my clientele, which really encompasses the entire world.” He is known for brokering deals between Hollywood and the Chinese film market, having represented Beijing-based Perfect World Pictures in one of the largest Chinese investments in Hollywood ever in a US$500 million deal with Universal Pictures. O’Melveny’s co-head of its entertainment, sports, and media practice, Amy Siegel, said the firm is extremely lucky to have Conner given the current state of the entertainment industry. “There are seismic changes in how content is being consumed and our entertainment clients are navigating that world and shifting their businesses, both on the deal-making side and on disputes that arise,” Siegel said. Conner said that his clients are glad about his move and the cross-practice focus at the firm will benefit them adding that, “O’Melveny has great strength in entertainment litigation, and in entertainment-related M&A, and finance, and tax.”
