April 20, 2021

Former O’Melveny partner Lisa Monaco was confirmed as the next Deputy Attorney General with broad bipartisan support, this article reported.

Monaco’s portfolio will include high-profile criminal and national security investigations, including those related to the January 6 capitol insurrection and the recent SolarWinds cyber hack. Monaco is an experienced executive in these spheres, having previously served as homeland security advisor and assistant attorney general for national security.

“She is one of the nation’s foremost national security experts,” Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin said. He went on to say that Monaco’s previous roles have “prepared her to oversee DOJ’s operations at this critical moment in history.”
