Reynolds, Orr Draft Article on California’s New Draft Autonomous Vehicle Regulations

October 11, 2016

O’Melveny’s Michael Reynolds and Jason Orr co-authored the article “California Revises Draft Autonomous Vehicle Regulations” in the October 11, 2016, edition of Law360. The authors detail the California Department of Motor Vehicles’ revised draft of regulations that could “open the doors to the widespread deployment of driverless vehicles — with no steering wheel, accelerator, or brake pedal — on public roads.”

According to the authors, “The new draft regulations are generally more permissive than those in the previous draft. California is a focal point for the development and testing of autonomous vehicle technologies and one of the largest potential markets for autonomous vehicles.”

Reynolds, a counsel at O’Melveny, and Orr, an associate at O’Melveny, are based in the firm’s Los Angeles office and are members of the Automotive and Consumer Class Actions practice groups.
