Software Development Times: CCPA Set to Take Effect at the Start of 2020December 06, 2019
O’Melveny special counsel Scott Pink is quoted in this Software Development Times article about the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), which goes into effect January 1, 2020.
“It’s sort of a GDPR lite,” said Pink, comparing the CCPA to the EU’s data protection and privacy law GDPR. “The CCPA provides three of the same rights that the GDPR provides, including 1) the right to know what data is collected about you, 2) the right to access that data, and 3) the right to request deletion.” Pink further explained that the CCPA provides the right to say “no” to the sale of personal information as well as the right to not be discriminated against.
