February 01, 2019

Super Bowl LIII will be of particular interest to a variety of sports-related professionals, including partner and sports group co-chair Irwin Raij.

“It’s the first Super Bowl where betting is legalized in multiple states, and there’s a lot still evolving,” Raij said. “It’s a different twist to what people have been talking about.”

Raij believes the recent uptick in NFL viewership is, in part, due to the legalization of sports betting last May. Sports betting is now legal in seven states, and Raij said he expects up to twelve more to legalize wagering in 2019.

Super Bowl LIII will also offer the first real look into how sports wagering entities will draw in fans.

“I look at the Super Bowl and it is a really bold, big event that really is the beginning of the calendar year in big sports events that will set some standards. It’s naturally a big step,” Raij said.
