Attorney General Merrick Garland laid out the US Department of Justice’s view of the investigation into the January 6, 2021 attack on the United States Capitol, saying that any perpetrator “at any level” will be held criminally responsible. “The actions we have taken thus far will not be our last,” Garland said. O’Melveny partner Walter Dellinger called Garland’s speech, “one of the best speeches ever given by an attorney general,” and that Garland’s critics were “premature.”
