The Recorder Notes O’Melveny’s Growth in Singapore
January 07, 2013
The Recorder’s January 7, 2013, article “Firms Beef Up Singapore Offices as a Launching Pad for Other Markets” notes that O'Melveny & Myers LLP is among the California firms that have “deepened their bench in Singapore.” The article also highlights the synergy between the Firm’s offices in Singapore and Silicon Valley. O’Melveny partner David Makarechian, who is based in Silicon Valley and travels frequently to Singapore, told the publication that the many emerging Southeast Asian tech companies and funds looking to learn from and increase their connections to Silicon Valley have looked to the Firm’s 28 lawyers in the region since it established a presence there in 2008. "We had this thesis in our transactions group that there is a link between Southeast Asia and Silicon Valley that is going to continue to grow," Makarechian said.
