The Washington Post: Lisa Monaco will seek to restore Justice Dept. norms attacked by Trump

O’Melveny Data Security & Privacy practice co-chair Lisa Monaco was profiled by The Washington Post ahead of her Senate confirmation hearing for the Deputy Attorney General post within the Biden administration.
A former colleague from Monaco’s days as a federal prosecutor, Andrew Weissman, described her as “the truly ideal choice” for the Justice Department’s second-in-command. He added that Monaco always portrayed “the same rigorous and dispassionate examination of the law and facts, unafraid of making the tough calls necessary to serve the public interest.”
“I don’t know anybody in government, or outside government, who is more responsible, rigorous, and thoughtful about how they do their job and how they serve the public,” commented Preet Bharara, former US Attorney for the Southern District of New York. Monaco “has always answered the call” and focused on her duties as a public servant, not the politics of the moment, he said.
Most notably, Monaco served as President Obama’s homeland security advisor, but her record of public service is long. She previously served as Assistant Attorney General for National Security and as Chief of Staff to the FBI Director, among other prominent government positions.
