Variety: 2020 Legal Impact Report

O’Melveny’s Entertainment Litigation Team and Entertainment & Media Transactions Team are both recognized in this year’s Variety “Legal Impact Report.” The litigation team includes partners Daniel Petrocelli, Drew Breuder, Leah Godesky, Matt Kline, Molly Lens, Amy Lucas, David Marroso, and Cassandra Seto. Variety recognized the team for several achievements, including winning a summary judgment and permanent injunction for Fox in its executive poaching suit against Netflix, leading Disney to victory in two copyright infringement claims involving the film Zootopia, representing Global Music Rights in antitrust litigation with radio stations, and defending Warner Bros. in claims involving the movie War Dogs.

The transactions team includes partners Bruce Tobey, Amy Siegel, Sean Monroe, and Silvia Vannini. Variety recognized the team for its work on several high-profile deals, including advising ViacomCBS in its 49% acquisition of Miramax, guiding Univision in its launch of the TUDN TV channel in partnership with Mexico’s Grupo Televisa, advising Library Pictures International in connection with an investment by Legendary, and representing BRON in several financing deals to expand the company’s growing market cap.
