Assistant US Attorney Damali Taylor Rejoins O’Melveny

May 15, 2017

SAN FRANCISCO—May 15, 2017—Damali Taylor, an Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of California, is rejoining O’Melveny as a partner in the White Collar Defense & Corporate Investigations Practice in the firm’s San Francisco office.

An accomplished litigator with significant trial experience, Taylor has handled white collar, securities, and civil litigation matters, as well as criminal, congressional, internal, and regulatory investigations. As a prosecutor, she has tried more than 20 jury trials and represented the United States in hundreds of proceedings in federal court, including pretrial motions, evidentiary hearings, grand jury proceedings, and sentencing hearings.

“Damali is a superb trial lawyer, an excellent firm citizen who is dedicated to mentoring younger lawyers and giving back to her community, and a widely respected resource for clients on compliance issues,” said Bradley J. Butwin, chair of O’Melveny. “We’re thrilled to welcome her back to O’Melveny.”

Taylor was a counsel in O’Melveny’s San Francisco office before joining the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office in 2009 and then the US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California in 2011. Most recently, she served as the Deputy Chief of the Organized Crime Strike Force Section, supervising more than a dozen AUSAs while managing a full caseload. She brings exceptional trial skills and diverse prosecutorial experience, including racketeering, money laundering, tax, homicide, and complex, document-intensive fraud cases.

“My time as a federal prosecutor has been tremendously rewarding, providing me the opportunity to gain extensive hands-on trial and investigative experience,” said Taylor. “I leave with the deepest respect for my colleagues in the US Attorney’s Office, as well as for the members of the bench and the defense bar. That said, O’Melveny is a special place, and I’m thrilled to be able to work with this stellar group of lawyers again.”

The FBI has recognized Taylor for her outstanding prosecutorial skills. She also received the Unsung Heroes Award for her dedication to victims of crime.

Taylor earned her law degree from Yale in 2002 and her bachelor’s degree from Boston University in 1998.
