Baker to Discuss the Future of Esports at Cornell’s 2018 ILR Sports Leadership Summit

NEW YORK—November 14, 2018—Charles “Chuck” Baker, partner and co-chair of O’Melveny’s sports practice, will be a panelist at Cornell’s ILR Sports Leadership Summit 2018, taking place at the Grand Hyatt New York on November 15.
Baker, along with Aaron Ryan, Senior Vice President of the NBA 2K League, and Sarah Watterson, President and CEO of Drive Shack, will speak on Panel #3, “Disruption and Growth—The Future of Esports.” Nyea Sturman, general counsel of the Orlando Magic, will moderate the discussion.
The Summit brings sports-industry leaders together to share and discuss important matters in sports. Other issues that will be touched upon include dealmaking, sports gambling, and the future of the industry. The Summit gathers sports-industry leaders to present and discuss the most pressing issues facing sports. They will take an in-depth look at deal-making and the future of the industry. Baker has represented buyers and sellers of sports franchises in the National Football League, National Basketball Association, National Hockey League, Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer, and many of the European football leagues. Most recently, he represented David Tepper, founder and president of global hedge fund Appaloosa Management, in his acquisition of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers.
