May 25, 2016FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEW YORK ─ MAY 25, 2016 ─ O’Melveny Chair Bradley J. Butwin has been reelected to lead the firm for another four-year term. Butwin originally took the helm of O’Melveny as Chair in January 2012, after heading the firm’s Litigation Department. In an overwhelming show of support, the firm’s partnership selected Butwin to continue his leadership for a second term, beginning in February 2017.
“Brad’s reelection eight months before the start of the second term underscores our confidence in his leadership of O’Melveny,” said Matthew W. Close, Lead Director of O’Melveny’s Policy Committee. “On his watch we have deepened client relationships and established a client-centric culture. Brad has unified the firm around a clear direction for the future—a direction that embraces the changes in the legal market but remains true to our core character and values.”
Butwin is a sought-after counselor and strategic advisor known for his relentless dedication to client service. Chambers USA has ranked Butwin among the top 25 commercial litigators in New York for the past five years. He also is committed to serving the communities where O’Melveny operates and improving the legal profession as a whole. In recognition of his dedication to justice, Butwin received the Human Relations Award from the New York Lawyers Division of the Anti-Defamation League. He cofounded the Court Square Law Project, an innovative public-private collaboration that pairs new law graduates with clients of modest means. And he is a member of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, the New York City Bar Association’s Committee on Financial Reporting, and its Task Force on New Lawyers in a Changing Profession.
“It is a tremendous honor to continue serving a firm I love,” said Butwin. “Our people have remarkable talent, integrity, and dedication. As a firm, we will focus on serving as true resources to our clients by embracing innovations that make their lives easier and our work more efficient. We’ll also continue to be true to the values that have always guided O’Melveny and that so many of our clients share.”
“Brad is a lawyer and leader in the finest tradition of O’Melveny. Under his leadership, we have been cohesive, well-managed, and put client service front and center,” said Tom Donilon, Vice-Chair of O’Melveny. “Over the next four years we look forward to building on this progress and executing further on our vision.”
