Chopra Named Los Angeles Lawyer of the Year in Employment Law - Management

LOS ANGELES—October 14, 2016—O’Melveny partner Apalla Chopra was selected by Best Lawyers as Los Angeles’ Lawyer of the Year in Employment Law - Management. Chopra, who chairs O’Melveny’s Labor and Employment Practice, was chosen by the publication based on her “particularly high level of peer recognition.”

Chopra is spotlighted by Best Lawyers in an October 2016 profile. Regarding her decision to pursue a career in employment law, Chopra told Best Lawyers, “[e]mployment law, by definition, deals with human disputes…I have always been drawn to trying to understand, address, and resolve the difference between people in the workplace in a productive way.” 

The profile also describes the counseling work Chopra does for clients, which often allows them to resolve issues before they end up in court or even before they become problems.

Chopra specializes in litigating complex multi-plaintiff and class action discrimination and wage and hour cases. Her experience is broad as she has represented clients in cases regarding employee allegations of invasion of privacy, wrongful discharge, and discrimination. She is also among a handful of lawyers colleges and universities turn to for their most complex and high-profile legal challenges, including Title IX and Clery Act investigations and follow-on litigation into their handling of sexual assault allegations.
