Daily Journal Names O’Melveny’s Miller, Snyder Top IP Lawyers

LOS ANGELES—August 16, 2017—The Daily Journal named O’Melveny partners Mark Miller and Darin Snyder as Top Intellectual Property Lawyers.

The Daily Journal highlighted Miller’s experience as both a trademark lawyer and IP litigator, saying he “utilizes his degree in physics while representing technology companies in complex patent litigation. In an ongoing patent litigation for Mentor Graphics Corporation, Miller has secured two precedent-setting victories, a top 100 jury verdict, and back-to-back appellate victories.” Those victories include a 2014 win for Mentor when Synopsys Inc. tried to invalidate certain patent claims in an inter partes review proceeding that was then upheld in a 2016 appeal affirming the validity of Mentor’s patent claims.

For Snyder, O’Melveny’s regional head of litigation for Northern California, the publication called out “a year of wins for Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and a slew of other clients,” including patent infringement case where he represented Samsung and LG Corp. as defendants, and Google as an interested party, in a pending case related to geographic information sent to map apps on smart phones. “It’s an incredibly satisfying and intellectually interesting area,” said Snyder.
