Daily Journal Names Schneller to its Annual “Top 40 Under 40” List

August 4, 2021

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES—August 2, 2021—Partner Jonathan Schneller has been recognized by the Daily Journal as one of forty top California lawyers under the age of 40.

In Schneller’s award profile, the publication noted his “key appellate role” in the ongoing opioid litigation in California. Schneller secured an important victory on behalf of Johnson & Johnson and its Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc. subsidiary when Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge William F. Highberger rejected the plaintiff’s efforts to “judge shop,” establishing an important limit on the use of peremptory strikes of judges in complex cases.

Schneller’s work also includes a high-profile pro bono matter, the Daily Journal wrote. He is lead counsel in a pending petition, which asks the US Supreme Court to review a capital conviction. “I spent three years as a federal defender, and it was important for my professional development. I enjoy being able to continue that work,” Schneller said.

Schneller was also recently recognized on Bloomberg Law’s “They’ve Got Next: The 40 Under 40” list, which recognizes “the accomplishments of sterling young lawyers nationwide.”
