LOS ANGELES—February 13, 2017—O’Melveny’s work for hospitality clients in high-profile mergers and acquisitions and high-stakes litigation matters was recognized by Law360, which named the firm a Hospitality Group of the Year.
The publication featured O’Melveny’s work for SBE Entertainment Group in its US$794 million acquisition of Morgans Hotel Group Co., Apollo Global Management LLC in the multi-billion-dollar buy of Diamond Resorts International Inc., and Homeinns Hotel Group in a US$1.75 billion going-private deal.
O’Melveny partner Mark Easton detailed the firm’s philosophy in serving clients through experienced teams across a number of practice areas, which “means clients have access to experience that can translate from one market to another, including finding new ways of doing deals or acquiring financing.”

O’Melveny partner Adam KohSweeney explained a recent victory for client Ritz-Carlton in a suit centered on whether the service charges levied on the rental of a catered banquet hall should be counted as tips to employees. The court found that the workers, who had sought a class action, hadn’t proved that it was industry standard to treat service charges as tips, resulting in a win for Ritz-Carlton.
