LOS ANGELES, CA -- July 29, 2015 -- O’Melveny & Myers LLP partner Ronald Cheng has been named one of the Most Influential Lawyers in White Collar and Cybercrime by Los Angeles Business Journal. Cheng is featured among 27 “stellar” Los Angeles attorneys who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in white collar and cybercrime law.
Recognized by Los Angeles Business Journal as one of “very few Mandarin-speaking attorneys experienced in both US and Chinese criminal law enforcement,” Cheng is noted for arguing more than 35 cases before the Ninth Circuit and serving as lead or co-lead counsel in roughly 20 federal jury trials. Additionally, the publication notes his 20 years of experience as a prosecutor, serving in a multiple roles at the Department of Justice including chief of the Criminal Appeals Section and acting chief and deputy chief of the Criminal Division of the US Attorney’s Office. Cheng also is recognized for playing a key role in the Cybercrime and Intellectual Property Crimes Section at the US Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California, where he “focused on criminal activity arising out of the Asia-Pacific region,” according to the publication.
Cheng, who began his career as an O’Melveny associate in the 1990s, returned to the Firm in June 2015 as a partner in the White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations Practice. He resides in the Firm’s Los Angeles and Hong Kong offices.
