National Law Journal Names Ian Simmons Antitrust Trailblazer
September 01, 2017FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, DC—September 1, 2017—O’Melveny partner Ian Simmons is profiled in the 2017 edition of National Law Journal’s special supplement, “Mergers & Acquisitions and Antitrust Trailblazers,” which highlights leading lawyers who “continue to make their mark” in the areas of M&A and Antitrust.
In his profile, published September 1, 2017, Simmons told the publication that it was during his work on a price-fixing matter, one of his first cases out of law school, that he “fell in love with antitrust law because of its common law nature.” He added that “[a]ntitrust work also calls for rigor with logic and doctrine, but also some elasticity of lawyering.” Regarding the future of the practice area, Simmons said he expects to see more cartel cases across the financial services industry.
Based in O’Melveny’s Washington, DC office, Simmons serves as co-chair of the firm’s Antitrust and Competition Practice. Simmons has extensive experience with cartel cases, and also litigates matters involving intellectual property issues, including the competitive implications of standard essential patents and FRAND obligations.
