New York Law Journal Recognizes Kohn, Mitchell as 2018 Distinguished Leaders

NEW YORK—October 5, 2018—The New York Law Journal selected O’Melveny partners Jeffrey Kohn and Nancy Mitchell for its 2018 Distinguished Leaders award, which recognizes lawyers “in leadership roles who achieved impressive results in the past year.”
O’Melveny is the only firm with more than one lawyer recognized for the award. Each of the 20 Distinguished Leaders were featured in special profiles in the New York Law Journal’s digital and print editions.
In his profile, Kohn, the managing partner of O’Melveny’s New York office and New York Regional Head of Litigation, describes what it means to be a leader: “An important part of leadership is encouraging collaboration with colleagues and assuring that all of us recognize the contributions made by talented people across all levels of experience and skill.”
He tells those beginning a career in the law that, “Every task, every matter, should be viewed as an opportunity to learn and to excel. I encourage our newest lawyers to be generous with their time. Mitchell, a partner in O’Melveny’s Bankruptcy & Restructuring group, is part of a team of lawyers working to resolve the financial crisis in Puerto Rico.
“I think leadership starts with a work ethic that pushes you to bring your best to your game every day,” she observes in her award profile. “Leadership also means being able to put ego aside to let others bring their unique qualities to the team.”
