NEW YORK, NY – November 19, 2014 –
For the third year running, O’Melveny & Myers LLP has received a perfect score of 100 percent on the Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) workplace equality administered annually by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. The Firm also maintained its designation as a “Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality” in the 2015 results, released today.

“We see diversity in all its forms as an asset that enriches our firm and the work we do for our clients," said Mary Ellen Connerty, O’Melveny’s Director of Diversity and Inclusion. “More and more businesses are recognizing this value, and the CEI is an important benchmarking tool and guide that helps us evaluate what we are doing within our organizations to ensure workplace equality for LGBT employees, and raise the bar.”

The 2015 CEI rated 971 businesses, only of which 38% earned top marks across the board. To achieve a perfect score and the coveted distinction of “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality,” firms must offer non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, and competency programs, and demonstrate public engagement with the LGBT community.

“In order to achieve a perfect score, a company has to show a deep and serious commitment to treating their LGBT employees fairly and equally on the job. We also look at whether a company is speaking out in the public square to advocate for LGBT equality here in this country and around the world,” said HRC President Chad Griffin. “O’Melveny & Myers not only meets these standards, it goes above and beyond the call of duty, making commitment to equality a fundamental aspect of its corporate values.”
