O'Melveny Adds Corporate Finance Counsel in London

LONDON ─ April 8, 2015 ─ O’Melveny & Myers LLP is pleased to announce that senior finance lawyer Jennifer J. Kafcas has joined the Firm’s London office as counsel and a member of the Corporate Finance Practice.

Kafcas’ practice focuses on general corporate and leveraged finance transactions. She has extensive experience advising borrowers and lenders on complex cross-border transactions in Europe and the United States, including bond offerings, asset-based financings, derivatives, restructurings, and M&A transactions. Having guided clients in refinancings and debt restructurings for more than 15 years, Kafcas has strong insight into the leveraged finance market and in-depth knowledge of UK, European, and US insolvency procedures and syndicated merger financing, acquisitions, and leveraged buy outs in a variety of sectors. Kafcas also advises clients on the complex regulatory issues that arise in cross-border transactions.

Kafcas’ notable transactions include representing Goldman Sachs International and other major investment banks in their capacities as hedge counterparties in respect of leveraged finance and bond transactions; advising NASDAQ-listed NewLead Holdings Limited on its 144A debt offering and its general corporate, maritime and charterparty documentation; representing AEA Investors LLP with respect to the financing of certain portfolio companies; advising a major global aluminum company on the refinancing of its acquisition facilities agreement and certain European subsidiaries in respect of cash management arrangements and operational aspects of its receivables financing arrangements; and representing Eurotunnel plc on the financing transactions relating to the acquisition of various leasing businesses.

Kafcas most recently was a senior associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP in London. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Florida in 1995 before obtaining her LLB from Lancaster University in 1999. Kafcas completed The College of Law’s Legal Practice Course in 2000. She is qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales.
