O’Melveny Adds Top-Ranked Veteran Restructuring Partner六月 01, 2020
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Adam C. Rogoff Is Sixth Corporate Partner to Join Firm amid US Lockdown
NEW YORK—June 1, 2020—O’Melveny announced today that leading restructuring lawyer Adam C. Rogoff has joined the firm as a partner based in New York.
With over 32 years of restructuring experience, Rogoff arrives from another AmLaw 100 firm where he was a partner in the Corporate Restructuring and Bankruptcy Department. He is a C-suite and board-level advisor, working with corporate debtors, official and ad hoc creditors’ committees, private equity sponsors, secured and unsecured creditors, and other key stakeholders on transactional, corporate governance, litigation, and advisory matters relating to restructuring, Chapter 11 bankruptcy, pre-packaged Chapter 11 cases, and out-of-court workouts.
Rogoff becomes the eighth lateral partner to join O’Melveny’s Corporate Department in the past eight months. Consistent with the firm’s commitment to meeting its clients’ evolving needs, six of these partners have moved to O’Melveny since March, when stay-at-home orders were issued across the United States.
The addition of Rogoff also continues the growth of O’Melveny’s top-ranked Restructuring Practice, which has built a track record of handling some of the market’s highest-profile matters, with tens of billions of dollars at stake. The firm currently leads the largest and perhaps most complicated municipal restructuring in history as counsel to the Government of Puerto Rico as it confronts more than US$70 billion in public-sector debt and US$50 billion of pension obligations. The team was also directly retained by California Governor Gavin Newsom in the state’s effort to recover its losses following the massive bankruptcy of PG&E, the largest utility in the nation.
Rogoff has deep experience in both company-side representations and engagements for secured lenders, creditors’ committees, and other significant parties, including distressed asset purchasers. He is known for his work in numerous industries, including retail, healthcare, real estate, hospitality, consumer products, automotive, airlines, and international shipping. Chambers and Partners, Global Insolvency & Restructuring Review, Legal 500, Practice Law Company, and Thomson Reuters have all recognized him as a leading lawyer.
“We’re delighted to welcome Adam to O’Melveny as we continue expanding our top-tier Restructuring Practice,” said Bradley J. Butwin, chair of O’Melveny. “Adam has a strong track record of handling complex cases in many of the sectors that have been especially hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. We anticipate that he will play a crucial role in helping our clients successfully work through the current environment, and serve as a pivotal member of our team as we and our clients emerge from the crisis.”
“Adam will be a natural fit at our firm,” said John J. Rapisardi, Chair of O’Melveny’s Global Restructuring Practice. “Having practiced alongside him at a prior firm, I know what an outstanding lawyer and terrific colleague he is. His arrival is a key piece in our team strategy of making O’Melveny the premier restructuring law firm in the world.”
“O’Melveny’s broad global reach and deep experience across many industry sectors make it one of the world’s premier restructuring firms, and I’m excited about the opportunities,” said Rogoff. “With private and public companies facing enormous new pressures, now is a time when thoughtful restructuring plans can make an immediate, lasting difference for clients. O’Melveny has an amazing track record of working with companies, boards of directors, and investors to develop practical programs that protect value and mitigate potential risk. The international opportunities—especially in the face of a global pandemic—complement my background, and I look forward to advising clients on the cross-border reach of complex restructuring matters.”
Rogoff received his JD from New York University School of Law, where he graduated Order of the Coif, and his BA with honors from Northwestern University. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Turnaround Management Association. A frequent speaker, he is the author and editor of numerous leading treatises and articles on bankruptcy matters.
